- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup butter, softened (for brushing)
Instructions
- Combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, salt, and flour; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Punch down the dough, divide it into 12 equal pieces, and shape each into a soft ball.
- Place them on a greased baking sheet and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and irresistible.
- Brush the warm rolls with softened butter before serving.
Notes
These rolls can be prepared ahead of time and frozen for later enjoyment. They are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or up to a week in the refrigerator.
