- 8 oz spaghetti
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add the ground beef, and cook until browned.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper, and let simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with the egg, a pinch of salt, and pepper.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti, followed by the meat sauce, ricotta mixture, and top with the remaining spaghetti.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese generously on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Make this dish ahead of time and refrigerate, adding extra cooking time for reheating. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
