Ingredients

- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 apple, peeled and diced
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Combine the sourdough discard, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
- Whisk together the egg and milk in another bowl.
- Mix the wet mixture with the dry ingredients and gently fold in the diced apples.
- Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove fritters from the oil and let drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.
Notes
Leftover fritters can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat them in a toaster oven for best texture.
