Description

Irresistibly cozy pumpkin butter cinnamon rolls filled with a warm blend of spices, perfect for autumn mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup buttermilk, warmed
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (one yeast packet)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • 4 – 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for rolling
  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup – 2/3 cup pumpkin butter
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp milk (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, warm buttermilk, instant yeast, granulated sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Whisk together until blended. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  2. Add the flour: Gradually add 4 cups of all-purpose flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is sticky, add additional flour, one tablespoon at a time, until it’s manageable. Knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5 to 7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  3. First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
  4. Make the filling: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, pumpkin butter, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. Mix until well combined and set aside.
  5. Shape the rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 16×24 inches. Spread the pumpkin butter filling evenly across the dough, leaving a small border.
  6. Roll and cut: Starting from the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish. Leave some space between the rolls for them to rise.
  7. Second rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise in a warm spot until puffy, about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Prepare the frosting: In a medium bowl, whisk together the softened butter, maple syrup, milk, brown sugar, and powdered sugar until creamy and smooth.
  10. Frost and serve: Once the rolls are out of the oven, allow them to cool for a few minutes before drizzling the frosting over the top. Serve warm and enjoy the cozy flavors!
