Description

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups (310 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (225 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100 grams) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp butter extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (115 grams) unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup (150 grams) granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
  3. Blend in the eggs, vanilla extract, and butter extract into the sugar mixture.
  4. Fold the flour, baking powder, and salt into the wet ingredients gently.
  5. Roll the dough into 1.5-inch spheres and flatten them slightly.
  6. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until edges are set.
  7. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  8. In a small saucepan, melt the remaining butter, stir in the sugar and water until dissolved, then remove from heat and add vanilla extract.
  9. Brush or drizzle the glaze over warm cookies and allow to soak in.
  10. Cool the glazed cookies completely on a wire rack.
