- 1 tsp butter extract (optional)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup (115 grams) unsalted butter
- ¾ cup (150 grams) granulated sugar
- ¼ cup (60 mL) water
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream the softened butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
- Blend in the eggs, vanilla extract, and butter extract into the sugar mixture.
- Fold the flour, baking powder, and salt into the wet ingredients gently.
- Roll the dough into 1.5-inch spheres and flatten them slightly.
- Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes until edges are set.
- Let the cookies rest on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- In a small saucepan, melt the remaining butter, stir in the sugar and water until dissolved, then remove from heat and add vanilla extract.
- Brush or drizzle the glaze over warm cookies and allow to soak in.
- Cool the glazed cookies completely on a wire rack.
