Description
A cozy and comforting dish of tender beef patties smothered in rich mushroom gravy, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix gently and form into patties.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4–5 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté the sliced mushrooms in the same skillet until golden brown and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Return the patties to the skillet and allow to bask in the gravy for about 10 minutes.
- If a thicker gravy is desired, mix cornstarch with a little water and stir into the simmering gravy.
- Serve your Salisbury steak smothered in mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes or rice. Enjoy!
Notes
Make patties ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days or frozen for up to a month.
