Description

A cozy and delightful bread infused with rich chocolate flavor, perfect for dessert or breakfast.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine the sourdough starter, warm water, sugar, and olive oil in a large bowl. Mix well.
  2. Whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, and salt in another bowl.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5-10 minutes.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 4-6 hours or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Shape the risen dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Let it rise for another hour.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  11. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

This bread can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
