Description

A delightful no-bake trifle layered with sponge cake, mixed berries, vanilla pudding, and whipped cream, perfect for gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of sponge cake or vanilla cake
  • 1 cup of non-alcoholic sherry or fruit juice
  • 2 cups of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 2 cups of vanilla pudding or custard
  • 2 cups of whipped cream
  • Optional: Chocolate shavings or chopped nuts for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare your sponge cake by slicing it into layers about half an inch thick.
  2. Pour the non-alcoholic sherry or fruit juice into a shallow bowl.
  3. Dip each slice of sponge cake briefly into the liquid to soak.
  4. Layer the soaked sponge cake in a large glass trifle dish.
  5. Add a layer of vanilla pudding or custard over the sponge.
  6. Layer the mixed berries on top of the pudding.
  7. Spread a dollop of whipped cream over the berries.
  8. Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the trifle dish.
  9. Finish with a fluffy layer of whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or chopped nuts.
  10. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 120 minutes.

Notes

Make ahead for better flavor development. Substitute fruits as needed based on the season.
