- 1 pound of sponge cake or vanilla cake
- 1 cup of non-alcoholic sherry or fruit juice
- 2 cups of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 2 cups of vanilla pudding or custard
- 2 cups of whipped cream
- Optional: Chocolate shavings or chopped nuts for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare your sponge cake by slicing it into layers about half an inch thick.
- Pour the non-alcoholic sherry or fruit juice into a shallow bowl.
- Dip each slice of sponge cake briefly into the liquid to soak.
- Layer the soaked sponge cake in a large glass trifle dish.
- Add a layer of vanilla pudding or custard over the sponge.
- Layer the mixed berries on top of the pudding.
- Spread a dollop of whipped cream over the berries.
- Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the trifle dish.
- Finish with a fluffy layer of whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or chopped nuts.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 120 minutes.
