Description

A delightful twist on the classic sloppy joe featuring savory garlic, tender beef, and gooey melted cheese over crispy Italian bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in diced tomatoes, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Toast Italian bread slices on a baking sheet for about 5 minutes, until golden.
  5. Remove bread and spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the mixture.
  7. Return to oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

This dish can be made ahead of time. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for a crispy finish.
