Description
A comforting dessert combining the flavors of dense banana bread and fudgy brownies, topped with rich brown butter frosting.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1¾ cups ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- ½ cup butter (for frosting)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 3 Tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease and flour a 15×10″ pan.
- In a large bowl, beat together the sugar, sour cream, softened butter, and eggs until creamy and well combined.
- Mix in the mashed ripe bananas and vanilla extract until everything is blended nicely.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the mixture, and stir until there are no dry ingredients left. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the brownies are baking, prepare the brown butter frosting. Melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Once the brownies are out of the oven, spread the warm frosting evenly over the top. Let cool, then slice into squares and enjoy!
