Description

Delightful Chocolate Sugar Cookies that are easy to make and perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups (228g) all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup (85g) natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (224g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups (310g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sugar (additional for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats and set aside.
  2. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Whisk together and set aside.
  3. Cream the butter and granulated sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Pour in the vanilla extract and blend until incorporated.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Create 1 1/2 tablespoon-sized balls of cookie dough and roll them in additional sugar.
  8. Place the coated balls onto the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 7-8 minutes until slightly puffy.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 4-5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
