Description
A cozy golden cake filled with warm, spiced aromas reminiscent of chai tea, perfect for chilly days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup chai tea concentrate (or brewed chai tea)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
- ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Vanilla extract (optional for added flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until it’s light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl for even mixing.
- Pour in the milk and your chai tea concentrate, and stir until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices (cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves).
- Gradually add the dry mixture to your wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost as desired with cream cheese frosting or a light dusting of powdered sugar, and enjoy!
Notes
For variations, try adding pumpkin puree, nuts, or chocolate drizzle as toppings.
