Description

  • 4 pita breads
  • Fresh vegetables (sliced tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and red onions, as desired)
  • Tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix until well-combined. Allow it to marinate for about 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Sauté until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Warm the Pitas: While the beef is cooking, warm your pita breads in a skillet or microwave until soft.
  4. Assemble the Gyros: Place a scoop of cooked beef inside each warm pita. Top with fresh vegetables and tzatziki sauce.
  5. Serve Warm: Fold the pita and serve warm, alongside more tzatziki if desired.

Notes

For ideal flavor, let tzatziki sauce chill for a few hours before serving. Store leftover beef in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
