Description
A comforting and rich flavor dish of warm Beef Gyros with creamy tzatziki sauce, perfect for busy weeknights and family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita breads
- Fresh vegetables (sliced tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and red onions, as desired)
- Tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix until well-combined. Allow it to marinate for about 10 minutes.
- Cook the Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Sauté until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
- Warm the Pitas: While the beef is cooking, warm your pita breads in a skillet or microwave until soft.
- Assemble the Gyros: Place a scoop of cooked beef inside each warm pita. Top with fresh vegetables and tzatziki sauce.
- Serve Warm: Fold the pita and serve warm, alongside more tzatziki if desired.
Notes
For ideal flavor, let tzatziki sauce chill for a few hours before serving. Store leftover beef in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
