Description

A cozy fall dessert of tender apples beneath a buttery, crumbled topping, perfect for enjoying with loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Place this mixture in a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and softened butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  6. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Make the apple filling in advance and store it in the fridge. Use Granny Smith apples for a lovely tartness.
