- 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Place this mixture in a greased baking dish.
- In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and softened butter until the mixture is crumbly.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Make the apple filling in advance and store it in the fridge. Use Granny Smith apples for a lovely tartness.
