Description

These Bacon Cheddar Chive Scones are cheesy, savory, and flaky, perfect for brunch or a cozy snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked turkey bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, chopped turkey bacon, and chives.
  5. Add buttermilk gradually, mixing until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead until it comes together.
  7. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into wedges.
  8. Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and if desired, brush with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!
