- 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked turkey bacon, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh chives, chopped
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, chopped turkey bacon, and chives.
- Add buttermilk gradually, mixing until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead until it comes together.
- Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into wedges.
- Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and if desired, brush with beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
